Majesty - Reign In Glory
![]() Majesty sounds like Manowar. Still. Majesty make songs that would fit on any of the 80' or 90's albums from Manowar. A track like Heavy Metal Battlecry sounds like it belongs on a lost tape from the recordings of the classic album Fighting The World with Manowar. In the rest of the tracks they manage to capture the exakt same battlefield atmosphere, using the same sound effects and ways of building the songs. Every ingredient, every bridge, refrain, galloping riff, verse, lyric, keyboard arrangment, mighty choir is exactly the same as their idols, but the only difference is that - and on this point of view I will never budge one inch - Majesty make better songs. I can't help to like this, even though I can see the absurdity in copying another band to this extent. It is just plain good old school true metal, and it's too good to dismiss. It is noticable that the amateurism from the earlier albums is slowly but sure starting to fade away, and this sounds a bit more mature with better songwriting and rougher approach. On this album we start to hear more faster tracks like Heavy Metal Battlecry and the speedy Defender Of The Brave, and the more midtempo ones have been turned up a tiny notch, and add to that they feel more solid and have more, if even possible, true metal feeling to them. If you like Majesty since before, you will absolutely adore this album. If you are a die hard fan of Manowar and are openminded enough to allow other bands to invade their territory, than this is the album of the year for you. This is how Manowar should sound, if you ask me. The digi pack version contains a bonus track in form of Battle Hymn, originally made by - Manowar, of course.
