I have always had a soft spot for Majesty. A long running
true and classic heavy metal act puttting out nothing less than good
albums all along their career without ever making the great headlines,
but never giving up their call. As usual this goes in a strong Manowar
vein, but with a very personal touch that makes them stand out, much
due to Tarek Maghary's charming and unpolished voice, and is in my ears
way better than their source of inspiration.
This is definitely their best album so far containing
songs ranging from quite good to great almost all through (apart from
the non-saying Across The Lightning) with more majestic, epic, catchy
and hymn-like choruses than ever and simple but effective riffing clad
in their best production to date. The album is mixed and mastered by
Fredrik Nordström in the renowned Studio Fredman, giving it a fat,
clear and spacious sound picture with a good punch to it.
Standout tracks are hard to single out since there is
a very even and consistant level on the album. After a strong first
half they even bring it up a notch during the remainder of the second
half. One small minus, however, for repetitive choruses and cheesy lyrics
occasionally. That aside, this is a joyous and energetic ride from start
to finish. Be sure to catch them on tour with Battle Beast this spring.
That should be a great package and a smashing night out.
