Fifth full length album from German metallers Varg and
I think that Das Ende Aller Lügen pretty much takes off where the
previous effort Guten Tag left. The band still puts plenty of aggression
to its heavy metal, but they are yet able to intertwine nice guitar
hooks, riffs and harmonies to the music, in order to make it kind of
have a strong melodic appearance behind the apparent anger and rage.
Because of the music's forceful direction with often very
fast drum playing and since the fierce vocal performance is in fact
monotonous, this album at first glance seems to hardly contain any variation,
but it surely does and although it's far from being weak or numb at
any point, some songs are taking a few steps sideways with a change
to a slower pace and also by having some female vocals involved in one
song.
Whilst Guten Tag instantly hit me like a ton of bricks,
this new record had to work its way up the stream quite hard to make
me see its momentum and reliability. When it eventually did, I can quite
easily see what initially made me like what this unit accomplish, and
that simply is good songs that often in a most violent way are able
to strike me emotionally to a large degree and I definitely think that
Varg yet again has managed to put out a very valid record.
