The third release from Los Angeles' Five Finger Death
Punch. Since the release of the single Under And Over It last July,
they get plenty of playing time on rock and metal radiostations. With
their catchy choruses they reach the non-metal listener and also pleases
metal fans.
American Capitalist follows a kind of strict pattern throughout
the album. An aggressive vocalist in the verses, clean harmonic sung
choruses who ends with the title being sung aggressively. Distorted
guitars, double bass drums, but except from the drums most of the songs
are played in mid-tempo, just produced harder and heavier. The structure
of the songs are 3 heavy - 1 ballad - 3 heavy - 1 ballad - 3 heavy,
which is not sheer coincidence and a brilliant move to keep the diversity
and to give the listeners a couple of minutes of rest occasionally.
Two ballads on the album obviously. Coming Down is more
of a semi-ballad actually and is a nice little piece of work, while
Remember Everything has a good verse, but a soapy American rock chorus,
which makes me feel like I'm eating a lemon. The other nine songs are
all good to great with a steady flow and most of them sounds like described
above.
This is indeed a very good album, even if most songs are
similar to the next one. With only forty minutes of playing time, it's
easy to put in on repeat and I'm glad that every album is not eighty
minutes long, just because there are some space left on a compact disc.
This band has only started their journey for stardom and I'm sure they
will gain even more popularity the coming years.
