Danish Pyramaze plays progressive powermetal in the same school as fellow Danish band Manticora. It is great musicianship, without being boring. It is melodic, without being too catchy. I wouldn't say that it's a record of pure hits, but there are ten qualitative compositions that work together as a unity. That suits well with the fact that the Legend Of The Bone Carver is a concept album of course. Rather there are small details, like the guitar work in Ancient Words Within and She Who Summoned Me that leaves lasting impressions. The solos are created with a nice melodic flow, just as they are supposed to be.

Jonah Weingarten uses the keyboards in a very tasteful mood in the background. If there is something to grumble about it should be Lance Kings voice. He sounds like Jorn Lande, but with a tendency to become a bit nasal in the higher tones. The guest appearance of Christina Öberg in She Who Summoned Me and Blood Red Skies adds some dynamic to the vocals. Even if you're not touched by every individual track, you are left with a feeling that this was a good record.
