Just to summarize before even starting. This is yet another
album with catchy light hard rock from the British veterans. The first
single off the album, So Let It Rain, was released in late August, and
whether that choice of song was the best or not, I lean toward not.
When I go through all songs, I find out that most of them
are kind of equally good. I can honestly say that all tracks, except
the last one, From Within, are good songs. Nothing groundbreaking or
extraordinary. Just straight melodic hard rock with a feeling of joy.
An album without fillers, but also without smash hits. It has an even
high level throughout the record and the ballads, like Putting Things
In Place, are just as pleasant as riff songs like the title track.
Bob Catley is well known for his fantastic voice and even
if getting older, I must say he's still impressing. The keyboards is
sometimes too loud in the mix and there are some rather annoying tones
in Didn't Like You Anyway. One of the absolute best songs, but part
ruined for me as I can't stop hearing those tones popping here and there
in the verse.
With a catalogue like Magnum's and with their solid and
slowly aging fanbase, I'm not sure if this album will be remembered
as a newer classic in a decade, but it's a good album and it will at
least do for now.
