Pretty Maids - Future World
Danish Pretty Maids have been around for almost three decades already but now we take a litttle trip in the time machine to go back and find a Future World... This is a true classic metal pearl and the absolute best installment in the history of the band. This follow up to their debut Red Hot'n Heavy is a total knockout and contains some very great and timeless tracks in the veins of commercial 80:s metal. In those days Ronnie Atikins vocal capapbilities were something this genre seldom had heard before and his sometimes clean and sometimes harsch and growly voice is along with a perfect blend of fast and heavy guitars and additional awesome keyboards what make this album so damn good. The album contains a total number of 9 tracks out of especially the four uptempo ones, Future World, Yellow Rain, Loud'n Proud and Needles in the Dark reperesent the real juicy stuff and the true highlights. The others except the ballad The Eye of the Storm end up in the midtempo area and can also be said to be more of the AOR character with their catchy verses and refrains and more classic rock touches. The band as most of you know is still active today with the exact same line up (!!!) which is in itself truly remarkable and released their at present time newest album Planet Panic last year and the band's also due for a release of the live album, Alive at Last this upcoming May. But if you want a classic and an album that without any doubts ends up in the Metal Champions League, Future World is a formidable alternative and tracks like especially Future World and Yellow Rain alone make this one a classic you really have to pay some attention.
