The verses of MyGrain's fourth release, Planetary Breathing, contain mainly death metal plays backed by angry, screaming vocals and like on many other Finnish metal albums, also rather loud typical keyboards. When approaching bridges and choruses, MyGrain often leaves some of the rage in the music behind and heads more into factitious heavy metal to top the songs with harmonies. It's alternately furious with brutal beats, down to mid-tempo and all the way to basically run all of it through a washing machine and out comes something similar to pop rhythms, to exaggerate a bit.

With computerized sounding keyboards whose melodies are pretty much hailing back to thirty years old disco occasionally, I really can't find this satisfactory. These hybrids feel bland, although Planetary Breathing in fact is a varied record that shouldn't wear you out if you would somehow find this record attractive. Still there's an evident lack of greatness in the songs all throughout this effort, as they unfortunately don't have the ability to merge what they contribute into gratifying pieces of music. Overlook Mechanimal Instinct, which I think is this album's outstanding track.

You have heard much of it or at least similar stuff before in the endless stream of bands nowadays and I don't know if I'm the only one who's somewhat sick of these type of arrangements. I mean, stay with the brutality and heaviness for God's sake and leave out the tranquil and weak moments, which are destroying almost every inch of this record. I've listened to this release for weeks now and somewhere around twenty times and I still can't see myself want to keep listening to this one, simply because it's not appealing to me and probably never will be.
