Fifth album from the Swedish metallers and the first to
feature the same lead singer on two consecutive releases. An album not
much different from their past work. Sure there are some progress, but
when ends meet it's still Bloodbound. With this, it's not breaking any
new ground, but how many records do that these days?
With hymns to hail metal, me against the world and such
patterned topics, they have created an album without fillers and with
rather strong songs all through. This riff based heavy metal, on the
edge to power metal, has a contagious groove, even if one song is pretty
similar to the next one and most of the diversity is absent. In brief,
forty-six minutes of straight metal with no ballads.
When Demons Collide with its kicking rhythm, striking
and charming Metalheads Unite, as well as heavy Black Devil come out
as my top 3 on In The Name Of Metal. A re-recorded version of 2007's
Book Of The Dead, originally featuring Michael Bormann on vocals, is
included as a bonus track. I can't say if it's better or worse than
the original. Just a bit different and I can't really see the point
of this new version.
In The Name Of Metal is one of Bloodbound's better releases
and I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. A solid album without any
bad songs.
