"Like it or not, but we are back again.......Hell's unleashed!" That is how the second song on Unleashed's new studioalbum kicks off, and I must say - you won't make many people happy with this, guys. People that have waited 5 years since the last album probably expect that the music might be a little more interesting than this.

This is very boring, and wouldn't have been looked upon with much more enthusiasm in the mid 80's than it is now. It would still be considered idea-less and soul-less. I think that the fact that almost half of the song don't even reach above the 3 minute barrier is a way of covering up that they have such a shortage of ideas for songs longer than that.

This sounds exactly like it did in the beginning of the 90's; standard death metal riffs with very tiring cliché lyrics. And yet I am not a person that consider a band to change their style for every album to be able to recieve high grades in a review- but this is just too simple. Without lifting my own guitarplaying abilities too much to the sky, I can say that most of the riffs on this album I could come up with myself on a fridayafternoon after a few cold ones.

And hearing lyrics like "(...)Rock around the clock, playing Hide and Seek now, she sure knows how to suck, such a nice little mouth, drives a man insane(...)" doesn't exactly help convincing me that this should be called intelligent and interesting music(even though i have to admit that this song, Joy in the Sun, musically is one of the best).

It is pretty much as their label say in the promotional papers: "This album contains the typically catchy, grooving mid-paced songs like the opening Don't Want To Be Born and Fly Raven Fly, aggresive faster attacks like the awesome title track Hell's Unleashed, Peace, Piece By Piece or Mrs. Minister as well as the beloved straight forward compositions in the unique band's writing style Demoneater and We'll Come For You." I can agreee to the fact that the information about in what speed the songs go is correct, but it isn't well performed.

I don't know if Century Media and Unleashed are thinking of going separate ways after this release, but this sure sounds like a hasty thing a band puts together to get out of a contract....

The band's own words: "We create Hell, you Unleash it!!!" My words: Baaahhh. I heard 2 riffs during 50 minutes that made me raise my eyebrows in appreciation - that speaks for itself. Unleashed has been a solid, good act in the death metal scene and made a good reputation worldwide and made a few classic albums in the 90's, but this is way below their dignity.
