Powerworld is the brainchild of bassplayer and producer Ilker Ersin, also functioning in German happy metallers Freedom Call. They play melodic hard rock with a progressive touch, seasoned with some occasional metal elements. Without being patronizing, it's rather ordinary and most songs are pretty much equally decent, with a few certain top moments, all on the album's latter half.

Many melodies are not strong enough to get me going. They feel somehow forced, mechanical and computerized with this production lacking heaviness. I feel that this release would have done better with a more direct force who produces more power to the songs to get me emotionally set. The progressive principle and the keyboards sometime overshades the songs as well.

This release doesn't leave many real solid impressions. A rating of 4 chalices is what I can hand out to Ilker and his boys. Definitely not a poor release, but also music I would mostly listen to while I'm involved with other activities, such as doing the laundry or cooking. This is not an album I sit down to in my favorite easy chair, staring at my audio system and just get filled with experiences of joy.
