With no lead vocalist in the band since the departure
of Edu Falaschi earlier this year, the Brazilian outfit is probably
out there looking for a new frontman, if they decide to continue with
the band's activities. Meanwhile we are presented a best of double CD,
including twenty songs from two decades of Angra music. Disc one is
taken from the nineties with André Matos behind the mic and disc
two shows parts of this century's work with Falaschi's vocal duties.
You can always question the choice of songs picked for
a best of album and I won't list the songs I would have preferred to
be included on this collection, but I think they pretty much did a good
job to show what Angra is all about. This is power metal with progressive
elements, or the other way around, progressive with power metal elements
and as we all know, this type of music has, in the recent years, been
going on a downward spiral, but retro and nostalgia are always powerful
tools, so some kind of turning point will perhaps hit us in the somewhat
near future.
