Sabaton

This was surely another victory on the successful crusade by Sabaton. This Wednesday night marked the premiere of the next leg of their The Art Of War Tour, and they could not have had a better start, and I think Sabaton as well as the attendants think the same. With no obvious clutches, everything seemed to work very well and the band was as enthusiastic as the fans were, and I can't imagine that anyone left this sparkling performance feeling even the slightest disappointed.

With the songs Ghost Division and The Art Of War, Sabaton kicked the evening into action and the intensity, momentum and joy on stage were present directly from the start and you felt that this would become a great evening. One thing that strikes me is that Sabaton still do not seem to understand themselves how great they actually are, and how popular they have become. It feels nice to see a band that appears humble in their attitude towards their success, and they were sincerely and more than once overwhelmed by the great reception they received. And in addition, surprise, surprise, Primo Victoria got the biggest response. I have never felt that venue shake before, but the crowd followed the encouragement from Joakim Brodén to sing along and to jump up and down to the tunes of Primo Victoria so that the floor swayed. That song will follow them to their final day.

Sabaton performed a great set, and I don't think that I missed any song as they provided a great mix. The new songs work splendidly, especially 40:1, as well as the obvious songs like Attero Dominatus, Panzer Battalion and of course, Primo Victoria for instance, who were all included in the set. Moreover, it was cool to see that they brought forth songs that have not been played that much, or at all for that matter, like Counterstrike and a medley from the Metalizer album that turned out really well.

In all, this was a well-performed concert that Sabaton put on, and it felt like this is how a great concert should be like, as it followed the standards of the textbook. A band that sparkles of joy, strong songs combined in a varied setlist of the band's career, an intense performance and a sold out venue filled with a crowd that plays along - this evening had all of that.
