Silverbug - Your Permanent Record
![]() Swedish band Silverbug from Stockholm was founded in 2000 by Staffan, Märta and Christer. However, it was not until 2001 the lineup was completed with the entrance of Ola. The band have made a number of demos and in 2003 things started to happen when they got some positive responses and a demo played in national swedish radio. The band has also done a minor tour in Germany, and in 2004 their last demo was done, and now it is time for their debut: Your Permanent Record. To describe Silverbug you could say that they play intense music that is something in the kind of actionrock, garage-punk, hard rock 'n' roll, high-octane rock or whatever you like to call it. And to make it a helluva lot easier for myself I am gonna namedrop a bunch of bands for you to blend in the mixer, and what you then pour out will be a cocktail called Silverbug. Take equal parts Sator, Motörhead, Danko Jones, The Hellacopters, Backyard Babies, Therapy, The Ramones, Rocket From The Crypt and last but not least The Almighty, and serve loud. There is no fuzz on Your Permanent Record from Silverbug that deliver fourteen songs in about thirty-three minutes, and in this case it means that it is intense, almost as intense as Danko Jones is. There are smashing vocal similarities with Ricky Warwick that make the similarities with The Almighty close, perhaps also because that they deliver their music with the same kind of attitude. It is not very original music, but I don't think they intend to be innovative either, this is more about having a good time. And you have a good time listening to the album but I think you would have an even greater time if you heard the songs live in a small and crowded club where the beers are flowing. This is an album that won't go down in the history books
and make a permanent record, but instead it is one of those that it
is perfect to start the party with.
