When you get the information from the information sheet that comes with every promo that Syn:drom plays metal in the same style as Nile you get both exited and sceptical. I can very much hear the influence that Nile has on Syn:drom's music but Nile is a band that has set such a standard in extreme death metal that it's very hard to surpass them, and this is something that Syn:drom fails at.

This does not, however, mean that "With Flesh Unbound" is a bad record. We're talking some serious playing skills being displayed here, a fact totally necessary since we're talking technical death metal. The guitarwork of David Karlsson and Roger Bergsten is very enjoyable, as are the skills shown by Daniel Åsén, Jonny Pettersson and Daniel Mikaelsson, who pounds the drums with great aggression and exactness.

Still, after 25 or so listenings of the record, I notice that my initial enthusiasm over "With Flesh Unbound" is lessened. The songs melt into each other, and although I still like songs as Obsolete Gods, Smashing The Face Of Belief and Winds Of Disease very much, I still get the feeling that I've heard this music before.

If you, regardless of my review, should like a fairly decent album in the foray of technical death metal you could check out "With Flesh Unbound" - but don't expect anything out of the ordinary.
