Family Of Rock starts with a heavy riff. That is the hardest
this rock will be, until the ending track War. Already in the chorus
of Family Of Rock, it all turns quite lame. Little Princess has yet
another catchy riff, but the lyrics are too much pink cotton. Let's
just say that the general interest in the greatness of children of people
you don't know is limited. We Fight In White has a chorus that directly
makes you think of the classic Stryper hit To Hell With The Devil. Another
reason to think of Stryper is the characteristic voice of Michael Voss,
which reminds quite a lot of his namesake Sweet in Stryper.
Glorious Night is another half stolen piece. Remember
Eurythmics? Remember their 80s hit Thorn In My Side? Last but not least
lies War, which - as I mentioned earlier - is the heaviest track. But
in a modern American style. Again I must draw a parallel to Stryper
and their latest album Reborn.
Speaking of reborn, Mad Max has made themselves a new
'white' shape of a classic melodic band. They've made it so well that
they have been opening for Deep Purple and Alice Cooper home in Germany.
But there is nothing especially original with their melodic rock. Not
even the 'white' message is unique. Maybe for Germany. It works as AOR,
but a bit of dirt on the white suits would not send even a Christian
band to hell.
