Persuader - When Eden Burns
![]() Persuader was widely praised for their breakthrough second album, Evolution Purgatory. The only objection was that they sounded like exact copies of Blind Guardian. Since then Jens Carlsson and Emil Norberg have joined with ex. Blind Guardian drummer Thomen Stauch in his new band Savage Circus, sounding even more like 'old' Blind Guardian. Now they are back with their own band and seem to have put more focus on what is Persuader, and actually managed to evolve something like their own sound. It is a perfect mix of aggressiveness and melodies. But, they cannot totally escape the smell of Imaginations From The Other Side. Jens Carlsson still sounds as Hansi Kürsch here and there, but has also put in more of his patented growl-screams. An excellent song performance it is, anyway. What is impressing about Persuader is the extremely even quality of the songs. From the first to the last track there are melodies and hooks that tempt you to listen again, and again. And for each time the compositions grow a bit. It is almost impossible to choose your favourites - you want them all. Other bands would probably kill to have one of these choruses on a record. Persuader has ten of them. When Eden Burns is the first song to occupy your mind. The mighty Blind Guardian-choir in the chorus is a big reason for that. After a few times in the CD-player Twisted Eyes and Slaves Of Labour appear as the perfect start for a record. R.S.-Knights, The Return and Judas Immortal are all potential live favourites. After having heard - and liked - Blind Guardian's A Twist In The Myth, I still think that the copy beat the original this time.
