One of Sweden's finest bands in Death Metal is back with
a mini cd. Being the super group that it is (previous members from Hypocrisy
and Edge Of Sanity, current members of Opeth and Katatonia) you can
expect and even demand quality, and you certainly get it.
Back on vocals are now Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt,
replacing Peter Tägtgren from the last album. Mikael was also the
vocalist on the first album by Bloodbath, and he is doing a just as
impressive effort here as well, being the marvellous growler that he
is. Musically, the songs follow the Bloodbath trademark; brutal and
intense but not overly fast, leaving quite some room for harmonies while
the mercilessly pumping rhythm section is steady as a rock.
Not much to say about this else than that if you are a
current fan of Bloodbath, this promises good for the future. If you
are new to Bloodbath and fancy well played old school death metal with
a classic swedish touch to it, pre-Gothenburg times, check them out.
The production is a little bit better here than on the
previous releases. A bit more clearer but with the massive and brutal
sound intact. This is a nice and promising taster in wait for the next
full lenght album.
