Sixth album from Finland's Mr. Lordi and his group of
monsters. I remember when I first heard this band's debut album, Get
Heavy, as I instantly found their music attractive. Now, just over a
decade later, with all lineup changes in their history and no matter
what monsters who stands behind the frontman, this band still produces
somewhat the same, and my interest for their creations have slowly decreased
along the road.
Lordi still plays rather catchy and easy digested hard
rock with elements of heavy metal and Mr. Lordi seems to be stuck in
one square, as this album doesn't differ the least from their past releases.
The songs aren't particularly bad, but on the other hand, they don't
attract my senses either. A couple of good songs and a bunch of decent
ones, just about sum things up.
Heavy riffing Schizo Doll and Sincerely With Love with
its explicit lyrical contents are in my opinion the two best songs.
The tribute to late drummer Otus must be the worst of its kind. A totally
stinking drum solo / noise is what we get to his memory. Was this really
the best recording available? The chorus lines of Candy For The Cannibal
are so bad that I want to cover my head in the sand.
If you dig this band's previous albums, I'm certain you'll
find this release satisfactory as well. If you're not familiar with
their music, I suggest you listen to their debut to begin with. 4 chalices
to an album that won't go down in history as one of their best.
