Members have come and gone through the years and now Louisiana's
Lillian Axe returns with a new lead vocalist in Brian Jones for their
eleventh release.
Heavy metal with a progressive touch is how I define their
music. It's well played, but the songs are made with focus on different
parts and are not straightforward at all, which makes the album quickly
run out of gas.
The music has potential, but unfortunately never reaches
anywhere near the top. As soon as they have climbed a bit up the hill
they fall down again. Good parts are followed by plain boring stuff.
This is something that's evident through almost every song on the album.
Mr. Jones does a fantastic job on his debut however and his efforts
are a highly welcome addition to the band.
I've listened to this record over and over again, but
almost nothing sticks in my heart and soul. The songs simply aren't
good enough and in the end that's what matters most. It's not utterly
bad and if you're really into progressive metal, perhaps you can find
something you like?
