Gamma Ray and its label are about to re-release the band's
back catalogue, remastered with bonus material added, and therefore
at this point they choose to release a double CD best of album in order
to inform the metal community what's on the list during 2015. Main man
Kai Hansen has reportedly picked these 25 songs to fit 2 full discs
of power metal hymns and which songs that finally end up on the final
product is always up for debate on a compilation like this one. Everyone
has an opinion on which songs matter the most and your opinion is no
worse than mine.
This 154 minute attack is naturally an outstanding document
of the power metallers' 2.5 decade career, even if it obviously, in
terms of a physical release, addresses to the most hardcore collectors
of this band's material. In the end it's really tough to put a grade
on this type of releases and although the songs are mainly awesome or
extraordinary I don't want to get too carried away over a compilation
and therefore my final verdict stays at 7 signalizing chalices.
