British sledgehammers Ingested are back with a new record - and be assured the time for subtleties is blown out the window. Nothing new under the sun, and the question is - should there be? The band's trodden path of deathcore is not a subgenre where change is saluted with joy and for the most part the band obeys the rules.

Speed, coupled with abundant amounts of breakdowns - perhaps a wee bit too many when I think about it, and of course the band's singer Jay Evans shouting his way throughout the record like a pissed off hog on steroids alongside downtuned as hell guitars flowing in like gigant waves. Drummer Lyn Jeffs pummelling away like there's no tomorrow and the bass barely distinguishable from the guitars.

As long as "The Architect Of Extinction" is playing it's good violent fun - but is it a memorable record? Well, to tell you the truth I have a hard time remembering any of the songs despite plenty of listening to the album. Above all I have the feeling of having heard everything before.

If you're looking for a record to mosh around to "The Architect Of Extinction" is totally fine - just don't expect to get any permanent scars out of the experience. Musically that is.
