Mokoma - Tämän Maailman Ryhtinaan Hovi
![]() Mokoma did not have an easy start. After realeasing two albums on the label EMI with poor sales the label releases them from the contract. So there they are, without a label since no label wants to pick them up. What do they do? They form their own record label (Sakara Records) and release their theird album (Kurimus) with great success. In 2004 the fourth album "Tämän Maailman Ryhtinaan Hovi" was released and was placed at a peek # 2 place on the Finnish album chart. Their self-titled dvd has sold approx. 5000 copies in Finland. A new album is to be released early 2006. Tämän Maailman Ryhtinaan Hoviis overall a very good album. Nice riffs and good melodies mixed with interresting vocals. The vocals by Marko Annala made me stop and really listen to the finnish lyrics even though I don't know any finnish. Markos shouting vocals are blended with clean vocals and gives a balanced feeling. However, many of the tracks sound too much alike and there is really no highlights on the album. The last song Uni Saa Tulla sounds more like something HIM would have produced. It's hard to grasp what kind of feeling the band wants
to send out with this album. It sounds trashy, it sounds death and brutal
at times, it sounds like pop-rock... In other words it's hard to label
them with a genre and maybe thats for the best.
