It might not be that original, but what an energy rush!
Sister Sin here define what rock 'n' roll is all about and thus deliver
all that I crave from a really pleasant music experience: attitude and
great songs. Pure and uncomplicated.
Liv and her boys kicked the shit out of W.A.S.P. as opening
act on last year's tour and did a great show at this year's Sweden Rock,
despite the early hour. A lot of that energy and charisma is actually
brought, not only to the studio, but the whole way through my speakers.
It is almost impossible to pick out favourite songs. And
this time it is a positive problem. They are all very strong, ass-kicking,
mind-lasting hits, with no one falling out of the frame. Beat The Street
opens as a classic run riot anthem. Breaking New Ground and Hostile
- Violent are basically in the same vain. On Parole and the title track
on the other hand are more laid-back, with melodic hit-potential - without
losing the slightest attitude in Liv's vocals. On Love/Hate all this
comes combined, in a real bastard of a hit!
This is definitely one of the hottest rookies of the year
and even one of the most consistent and best records overall in 2008.
Sister Sin seem to really love and enjoy what they do and manage to
pass that good feeling on to the listener - and that kind of passion
is not as common as one should think among musicians these days. Too
many end up in introvert art-making or adapt to commercially given structures.
That is why we need a rock 'n' roll revolution - and Sister Sin stand
on the barricades already.
