Zeelion - Steel Attack
![]() The swedish band Zeelion's history is dated back to 1997 and their debut album arrived only a year later in Japan. I really don't know why the arrival of their second album has taken such a long time but now is the release of Steel Attack finally here some eight years later. When the promo arrived I had no idea what to expect since Zeelion was totally unknown to me. The promo sheet didn't tell much about their history either so this was a blank sheet when I inserted the disc for the first time. When the first track started playing something clicked right away. 'Damn, this is good' I heard myself surprisingly say. The song entitled I Burn is driven melodic hard rock the Scandinavian way with neoclassical touches. The next track I Remember continues in the same vein but maybe a bit bluesier in the verse and an effective and catchy chorus as a prominent guest. The speedy title track is up next and I am still impressed. This is more towards the melodic power metal genre and works damn fine as well. The tempo is lowered with Shadows but what a great track my friends! The verse is quite groovy, the atmosphere epic and the chorus sticks at first listen. These four great tracks surpassed my expectations by far
and was nothing but a jaw-dropper the first time I listened to Steel
Attack. After this great start however things get normal if I dare say
so. The quality of the remaining songs is also good and above average
but nothing spectacular either. After spinning the records several times
this fact gets even clearer. The golden four in the beginning is the
shining stars of this album and if they could hold this level during
the entire record next time it will be something to look forward to.
The conclusion however is that Steel Attack surprised me big time and
I'm sure this will appeal fans of guitar driven rock/metal with the
focus set on melodies.
