Since the mid 90s Bewitched has followed their mission
to spread darkness. This they do rather with old school black metal,
than in the sense of the true evil Norwegian noise. That means it is
closer to for example Venom than to Mayhem. But there are also some
elements of thrash, death and doom. Looking at the promo pictures, the
guys themselves want to be associated with black metal anyway. And,
if you take it serious, it is a bit satanic. Further it is raw, energetic
music. Most important, it is great music, performed by skilled musicians.
That way the comparison with Venom fails as well.
Fucked By Fire starts of as a hybrid between black and
thrash. Here the influences from Venom come to me. Gracefallen is slower
and more of modern black. Let Darkness Come is almost doom-slow. Still
with some distinct melody. Glorious Are The Ways Of Death is another
dark slow composition, while Malevolent Force Of Destruction leans more
to the aggressive. This Is Goodbye
is closer to classic heavy
metal but with an extra touch of evil. Although I'm normally a bit sceptic
to angry corpse-painted fellows, I cannot but admit that this is three
quarters of qualitative music.
