Powerful! That's the first thing that comes to mind in regards to the fifth album from Darzamat. Unknown prior to this review, the band has made me very interested in checking out their backcatalog when listening to "Solfernus' Path". I really appreciate the band's melancholy side, and when I on top of that get a powerful growling from singer Flauros, then the step to screaming in joy isn't hard to take.

Epic in proportions, the band is almost bursting at the seams sometimes, they nevertheless mix it up with enough really aggressive playing to form an entity that really works. The two singers of the band, Flauros that handles the growling, really have a nice contrast in the purity of Neras voice. At times I just sit and get blown away by what she does with her voice.

The band's music isn't totally original, and the album would have benefited if the short songs all named Intro had been dropped - but "Solfernus Path" contains enough really impressive music to get me really excited about this record.
