The second deal from Glamour Of The Kill. I had never
heard of this band before I dug into this new release and my initial
thought during the first spin was that this band was one out of dozens
alike, soon to realize that I was totally out of bounds. This band creates
killer songs with its vivid, catchy and strongly captivating modern
heavy metal. I think it's safe to say that this is absolutely something
for younger metal fans that embrace music with less determination than
prior generations.
It's music that digs itself through bone and marrow to
fixate a firm grip to hold on to. A mixture between some kind of alternative
metalcore and heavy metal with strong rock influences. Many of the songs
are pretty speedy, although the clean production stays aside from powerful
heaviness to create more force than necessary. A cohesive record that's
somewhat intense within their margins and more or less without ballad-like
moments. A blatant momentum carry us through this lightsome record and
many of the songs stick like glue.
Just because I refer to this release as modern, it doesn't
mean that it lacks guitar solos etc. The youthful plays match the pumping
rhythms to suit Richmond's voice all right. If you're a stubborn old
metalhead that dismisses any kind of more modern metal or if you're
looking for a diverse musical experience with brilliantly played opuses,
I strongly suggest you to look elsewhere, because you won't find those
moments on Savages. Instead you will find metal music with a fresh and
upcoming attitude that will probably stick around for a while.
