Third album from Swedish unit Deals Death. Since the recordings,
bassplayer Fredrik Ljung has been replaced by Kammo Olayvar to complete
the new lineup. If I didn't know better, when I listen to Point Zero
Solution, I would bet a million bucks that this band was originating
from Finland. The Finnish classic vibe, yet somehow modern in a way,
is just all over this recording. It's like it's all there with the keyboards,
the vocal style and the massive tuneful arrangements to fill my void
of prejudice.
I would say that melodic death metal and fierce heavy
metal played with a rather brutal approach pretty much summons up Deals
Death's new release. It contains angry vocals in the verses blended
with pumping choruses and leading keys plays in many songs. Intensive,
badass heavy riffs are succeeded by speedy guitar solos and neat harmonies,
crowned by thunderous rhythms in a symbiosis of power and strength.
The production, with its shining forceful appearance,
is well suited for this type of death metal and it's something that
lifts this release to higher grounds. Speaking of grounds, I can't say
that they break any new ones, as this type of metal has been around
for years now, but that truthful reality hardly overshadows the total
outcome. Despite my remarks in the preceding sentence, there's also
a newborn fire in Deals Death's music that should not be overlooked,
because it simply makes the album sound up-to-date as well. It's a good
record and in my opinion the band's best work thus far.
