-Your Flesh Is Now Ours! is the declaration of wisdom that lead us onto Swedish Naglfars latest blasphemy, namely Pariah. It's been quiet since the 2003´s killer album Sheol, which was the fifth release by the band. An album that felt deadly serious in aggression and brutality after some years of silence due to member shifting when the singer and front man Jens Ryden left over the vocal duties to the bass player Kristoffer W. Olivious in order to concentrate on studies. But no time to grieve - this Northern Swedish legion are back on the track with mentioned Pariah released through Century Media.

As said, the Sheol album was a crushing success for the band and difficult to resist, packed with catchy riffs and aggressive melodies all very well combined with the characteristic voice of Jens Ryden. So what to expect from Pariah? Well, its no doubt that everything that made the greatness of Sheol is still there. The writing and arrangements are pretty much the same as on Sheol. The slow parts have become a bit slower and perhaps darker and the faster furious spellings are even more intense and hateful than before. Naglfar balance on a very fine line with very well composed material. Everything seems to have a purpose and is well fitted together with the hateful voice of Olivious, who is aware of his vocal craftsmanship. Nice guitar solos and arrangements can also be heard on Pariah, just check the heavy and darkened The Perpetual Horrors.

After some listening I realize that Naglfar anno 2005 differs very little compared to the previous release. Perhaps the elements of good old heavy metal are more obvious now on this release but without compromising with the quality of intensity and speed. It feels like a very natural step in the right direction. Well, what to say about downsides? It's hard to find anything to complain about. This is what you get when you put instruments in the hands of four very competent and skilled musicians whit their minds on deadly serious subjects. Spoken Words Of Venom is a quite good proof of that, the same goes for the excellent The Murder Manifesto and The World Shall Be Your Grave. Naglfar continue to hold the Swedish melodic black metal banner high and there is no question about that they still can deliver. A doze of Pariah is hereby strongly recommended, whether you are a die-hard death- or blackened metalist or just a good old heavy or thrash metal maniac.
