Sodom - One Night In Bangkok
![]() This is Sodoms third live album during their long and prosperous career, following Mortal Way Of Life (1988) and Marooned (1994). Recorded in Bangkok, where bands of this caliber seldom show up, the crowd is going wild and have been given a big space in the soundpicture, and that add a great deal to the live feeling. The production is very good, as it is fat and raw, but yet clear, and as the good live act Sodom is considered to be, it is intense, compact and sweaty with confident and energy filled versions of the classics as well as the later material. The mixture of songs is very good, and most albums are represented, even back to the debut EP In The Sign Of Evil. The only thing I could ask for is some tiny modifications in the setlist - some rearrangements and some replacements. Then an ever higher grade is clearly within reach. Not one song comes from the masterpiece Persecution Mania (1987), except for a part of Bombenhagel, which is a disappointment and a bit weird of you ask me. It is the same as if Iron Maiden would skip The Trooper, the Number Of The Beast and Run To The Hills during one of their concerts. Not much to add really. The setlist speaks for itself, and the result is is a great power package delivered by one of Germany's premier thrash machinery. In short - a great live show and a solid buy for you who are in search for quality thrash.
