Keyboards by Mike Andersson, Stefan Elmgren and Stefan
Rosqvist.
With a new guitarist, Stefan Rosqvist, in the band replacing
CJ Grimmark after his departure earlier this year, Swedish outfit Fullforce
releases their second effort in just over a year. A band with a couple
of members who need no further presentation to the fan of heavy music
and if you are eager to find out more, search their sites on the links
below or have a look at Wikipedia.
Fullforce plays melodic hard rock that feels kind of ordinary
and not especially captivating or fascinating. Only a few songs get
my neck muscles somewhat in motion and most of the stuff passes me by
without any reflections. It's not crap, but the riffs feel a bit weak
and powerless, the melodies don't feel natural and the attempts to create
catchiness never reaches out and seems to be stuck deep within.
I've listened to Next Level well over a dozen times and
most songs give me no real satisfaction. A lack of songwriting skills
is evident to me and the touch of progressive stuff is experimented,
constrained and plastic. Speedier song Whispers touches my senses to
some degree and so does Karma, but I guess that's it. Perhaps someone
out there digs the hell out of this album, but it's certainly not my
cup of tea. 3 chalices to Next Level.
