Music is basically something that should make you happy.
That is the pure essence that makes me turn on my stereo over and over
again. That I have some genetic disorder that makes me go happy with
thrash-, doom-, death- and whatever metal is one thing. Aggression,
darkness and heaviness all have their appropriate time. But sometimes
you just need a pure energetic kick of joy. Now I'm coming closer to
the point here. I got this demo with Some Kind Of Rubus, and it was
love at first listening.
With a great dose of Celtic folk music, some good old
rock 'n' roll and a whole lot of attitude, this hits you harder than
much of the mainstream metal business today. After all, there is nothing
harder than old folk music with some tempo and the right sting. Therefore
it has its proper place even in this context, that is MetalCovenant.
If you are not convinced already, the singer Emil Gammeltoft has a past
with hard rockers Nerved.
Add to that, that we have to deal with a group of excellent
musicians who seem to do this straight from the heart. Things like that
shines through what you hear. That is in the end why you listen to music.
Not to hear your favourite band since twenty years once again trying
to recreate a long time old classic or - even worse - try to adapt to
the music scene of today. Therefore it is a relief when you hear something
unconditional, uncontrolled and uncomplicated. Give an ear to Some Kind
Of Rubus!
