One of many supergroups that actually deserves being called
exactly that. Just have a look at their past work and you'll figure
it out. LV is a fan edition live album, only available in Europe, strictly
limited to ten thousand copies. So limited and so special that I guess
there wasn't enough time to print the proper tracklist on the backcover,
since Oh Yeah actually is Down The Drain and vice versa, at least on
my copy. Track 1-4 were recorded during 2012 with Kenny Aronoff on drums,
filling in for Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and track 5-9
were recorded in Phoenix, Arizona in 2009.
Like many other supergroups, the performance is stunning,
but many of the songs aren't top notch. Outstanding skills just don't
equal great music. With this release, I listen more to the actual playing,
than to the songs. I sense a huge freedom in their playing and it sounds
like they have lots of fun, playing exactly what they choose to. Songs
like groovy Something Going Wrong, My Kinda Girl and the ballad Learning
To Fall stick like glue.
With a couple of seconds of silence in between the songs,
I lose that continuous live feeling, but on the other hand, it's raw
and it's alive, with jams, fills and licks. I saw this band live twice
in 2009 and I can for sure certify their genuineness, which I think
the outcome of this release somewhat proves. I have no doubt whatsoever
that fans of Chickenfoot will dig this release.
