Swedish newcomers Mile basically present an uncomplicated
and modern form of heavy metal. It's sort of melodic with a little bit
of a heavier and rougher approach coming to it and they aren't strangers
of putting forward double bass drums when they from time to time want
to pick up the pace a few steps. The riffing is somewhat mechanical,
yet with a nice flow, and somewhere lurking deep down beneath are stuff
reminiscent to kind of industrial tones.
I believe that the album first and foremost doesn't set
aim for people looking for massive guitar playing and fans who choose
to find their own choice of metal by personal selection. I would say
that its primary target audience is instead people who prefer listening
to rock or metal radio and getting their choices served on a plate by
some bought off station rather than searching out the realms by themselves.
Is this necessarily something bad? No, but it's still the stone-cold
truth.
This release nevertheless contains lots of hooks and captivating
melodies and I think that the strength within this before untested band
is their ability to write and design parts which are essentially quite
easy to absorb and to remember. It's definitely not a varied record
though, because the songs generally have a certain similar style and
appearance, which the band obviously doesn't choose to deviate from
too much on too many times.
I can't say that all the songs are totally mind-blowing,
but still the major share of them are absolutely on a very satisfactory
level if you're looking for a convenient and easy-going experience.
It has large number of memorable moments and it comes out fresh and
viable and is therefore in the end a most valid debut and I believe
that this unit along the road in fact might get some recognition in
the nest of mainstream metal.
