I have not been a big fan of anything any Cavalera brother
(Sepultura, Soulfly) has produced since the beginning of the 90's, quite
the contrary actually. Therefore, my expectations on this album were
very low but once again I have to stand corrected looking like a fool
because of prejudice based on previous efforts. This is really good.
"Inflikted! Show no mercy! Motherfucking wicked!"
There we have the new catch phrase for the summer metal season, free
like a bird with a belgian beer in your hand. If you can listen to the
title track of this album a handful of times and still be able to refrain
from wanting to burst out this very same, you probably do not have much
metal running in your veins, not as much as you think at least.
Radiating with energy and dedication to the task, they
spit out plenty of catchy hits, yet dripping with natural aggression,
frustration and rough metal, many times most close to the thrash area
but also with elements from respective brother's musical journey the
past decade and a half, fragmentally even touching the hardcore/punk
area.
The eagerly and for many fans a long time awaited reunion
between brothers Iggor and Max Cavalera has indeed resulted in a very
solid metal album. I can just hope they will continue to develop this
in the future.
