Alpha Tiger's last album, Beneath The Surface, made a
rather strong impression on me as it indeed was a very pleasing effort,
especially when considering the highest scoring songs which had great
capacity in terms of melody and the overall driving force. 2 years later
things definitely look different as far as I'm concerned.
I really feel that this new record has a notable lack
of those solid and vivid songs and with the end result which is now
presented, this effort absolutely doesn't match up to its predecessor
and this really sounds more plain and ordinary in total, since the accurate
and killing songs no longer exist in my book and a major share of the
material ends up being stuck in the vast sphere of something decent.
I also think that the band on a few aspects has left or stepped aside
from its kind of fresh and youthful type of heavy metal with influences
of certain speed metal elements, in favor of a more everyday heavy metal
approach with some power metal parts involved.
Beforehand, I actually thought that these Germans would
step up even further in terms of songwriting and performance and that
they would be able to come out with something really absorbing and noteworthy,
but in my point of view, these factual 9 songs really don't contain
the strength nor the stamina to sort of burst out into massive musical
pieces. I can't say that this record is some kind of big-time failure,
yet I must point out that I feel a little disappointed in the end, as
I was really looking forward to see this band develop into greater moments.
