Strange, but sometimes it's nice just to get a kick in
the face - at least musically. Hostile Cell stands for straight, simple
rock 'n' roll, with some punk attitude over it, some stoner influences
and almost metal-like aggression.
Though blown away with the sound and the attitude, it
is basically the song material that is the main obstacle here, and of
course, that is a heavy post that prevents a higher grade. It is all
good, no doubt about that, but a bit more variation in both tempo and
singing tone, like in De-Evolution; some hooks and a few stickier choruses,
in the like of God Komplex; would have done magic to this.
The record is released on the band's own label Coreshot
Productions, a phenomenon that is rising steadily these days. Many bands
chose not to wait for a record company to open their eyes and wallet,
but rather to finance, distribute and marketing themselves via professionally
recorded and packed demos.
And, quite often bands that have that confidence also
have the quality and originality to back it up, sometimes more than
the signed ones. Hostile Cell has all they need to succeed - in theory.
If they really work like hell with the material for the next one, it
will be a blast.
