Spiders and Snakes is a Glam/Sleaze act that nowadays is reduced to a duo and the band released their first effort already back in 1991. And by the sound of them they have never really left those days. Spiders & Snakes are sleaze rock of the worst kind, like a stripped down Guns 'n' Roses without any talent.
The songwriting feels embarrassing most of the time and I just want to go and hide. Cheesy and bad performed melodies that seem to cling on to a time well passed. Although they might not be worthless at playing the instruments, they surely need some help with the songwriting, and the vocals are further more in serious need of improvement as it sounds affected. The only thing I got out of this album was the saxophone solo played by a guest in the track The Girl Cant Help It, it is actually the only thing good enough to hold on to on the seventh album from Spiders & Snakes, and I am actually surprised that they have managed to survive for so long.
There is also a bonus disc DVD to go with Hollywood Ghosts, although it feels more like a punishment than a bonus to watch through it. Music videos of both traditional style and of the live kind with the common factor of having an amateurish home-made feeling with lousy picture and terrible sound with the live features, and seeing their live performances to me only felt pathetic.
I seriously don't know what to do with this album, but
I probably wont listen to it again. It is more likely that I will use
it as target when I practice shooting with my airgun rifle.
