Death Dealer comprises a group of musicians hailing from
more and less known bands within the perspective of heavier music. When
listening to what they have accomplished now with this second effort,
it's quite evident that these guys definitely have a strive to bring
this band to the bigger stages. With Ross The Boss being a part of the
band, I guess that a few people believe that this would be pretty close
to what Manowar delivers, but basically the only clear similarity between
the bands is that both of them play roughly the same type of music.
Hallowed Ground shows really genuine and often pretty
severe attacking music within the framework of mainly heavy metal, yet
sporadically with elements of thrash metal. It's not so widespread in
a musically dimensional aspect but rather set to target an outcome of
a powerful appearance and to compile and solidify an authentic work
with a kind of traditional vibe. The overall sound of the record is
a little bit muddy, but at the same time that fits the music quite well
in the end, because neither the music's nor the production's purpose
was to come out frequently polished or sterilized.
It's an effort filled with independent diligence and most
parts carry a kind of attitude and expression of us going forward fast,
hard and loud. I find it to be very balanced without any obvious fillers
as it contains a minimum of valley and pits. It's rather safe to say
that this piece of music is made to create an impact with heavy metal
being based on a natural activity of energy and effect. At the end of
the day, I enjoy much of this record's contents and especially the feeling
of them seeming always ready for action.
