Evisceration Plague is the 11th full length album by Cannibal
Corpse, who celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. The album starts
out with Priest Of Sodom, one of the strongest songs of this album.
Nice riffs and a good vocal effort performed by the mighty "Corpsegrinder",
and this song has a very nice feel to it. This is followed up by Scalding
Hail, a very intense song and extremely short as well.
The first part of this album is in general really good,
containing some nice riffs and very nice refrains. However, when I keep
listening to this album I get the feeling that something is missing.
The riffs and vocals are there but I want something more, I hate the
feeling of not getting satisfied when listening to death metal. I lack
the rage and intensity during the second half of the record.
The last part of the album has its peak in the title track
Evisceration Plague, this song has what the rest of the second part
of the album album lacks, excellent vocals really powerful riffs and
a very nice drum sound. If the rest of the songs had been this good,
the album would be close to a new personal favourite of mine. But, alas,
they are not.
To sum it up, this is an album that does not reach any
real magnificent heights but never at any point does it hit any low
marks either. A good but average Cannibal Corpse album.
