The north-western part of Sweden has spawned quite a few
bands of notoriety: Cloudscape, Soilwork, Darkane, Faithful Darkness
and Chine to name some all hail from the towns of Helsingborg and Höganäs
to the north of Helsingborg.
Sins In Vain's debut album offers some nice melodic metal
with plenty of hooks and emotions. Fronted by Linnèa Renholm
Persson, whose vocal performances at times are so beautiful that I get
a small lump in my throat.
Speaking of the musicians of the band, I really enjoy
the work of guitarists Jens Tellman and Christian Andersen. Good, solid
riffing along with some good solos they certainly do the job for me.
The rhythm section with Fredrik Andersson (also on vocals in Chine)
and Frederik Löfgren offers a solid backbone to this group.
Some of the songs don't quite do the job for me, mostly
because they are a bit made of the same mould - but on the good songs
there is enough quality to make me smile.
Sins In Vain offers some not totally original music but
on the whole "Enemy Within" is a good album.
