Metal Inquistor - the dukes of wrath - formed in 1998
with the soul intention of wreaking classic metal havoc. Their debut
release The Apparitian genuinely reflects everything a parishioner kneeling
at the altar of metal would praise and worship. Song's such as Run For
Your Life, Zombie Driver, and Daze Of Avalon recall the hierachical
past; embracing everything I love about metal. After shopping their
Resistance Is Futile demo, Hellion Records signed them and in November
2005, the hard rocking bad boys pleased our senses with Doomsday For
The Heretic. I only recently realized the talent that is Metal Inquisitor,
for this I am forever grateful. These midnight riders of doom play pure
80's metal with hints of thrash. It is no surprise that Blumi also plays
guitar for those infamous retro-lords - Metalucifer. Those Japanese
tyrant reign, and honour their Sabbat with obeisance to all things old
school; because, old is cool!
Metal Inquisitor remind me of the glorious early 80's
listening to Metallica and discovering their influences, like Blitzkrieg,
Diamond Head, Tygers Of Pan Tang, Sweet Savage, Angel Witch, Motorhead,
and of course, Iron Maiden. Metal Inquisitor stare straight into the
eye of the storm, open fire, and let it loose; obviously , being influenced
by these NWOBHM bands as well. I also hear homage and a sycophantic
fantaticism for Saxon, Exciter, Judas Priest, and Dio when he sang for
both Sabbath and Rainbow. The twin axe attack of Blumi and T.P. is relentless
with sedulous soloing. El Rojo the vocalist has an awesome range combining
Joe Lynn Turner with Bobby Blitz and perhaps Biff Byford. Many of these
NWOBHM bands still exist today; attempting to recapture their faded
glory. They all pale by comparison to what Metal Inquisitor has achieved
with their sound. Be weary of pretenders to the throne, who would have
you ruin your life.
Metal Inquisitor, like Wolf, Bloodbound, and Destillery
taste revenge by diligently upholding their roots. I would also clarify
that the legionaires - Metal Inquisitor have been spoonfed chunks of
Raven, Anvil, Riot, and Mercyful Fate; while tapping the veins of bloody
speed merchants and thrash hessions. Restricted Agony aggregates toward
Hammerhead by Overkill, with a touch of Lifeless Zone by the Accused.
The wrecking crucial - Thane Of Cowder has 80's erea Metal Blade inscribed
in the escutcheon. M4 A1 carries the catchy hook of Whiplash's Atlanta
Is Burning Down, and to a certain extent Easy Prey by Predator. These
hell star chasers get down and gaze into the the stained class electric
eye of Judas Priest, by covering Invader and misappropriating many a
riff for Midnight Riders.
Metal Inquisitor, therefore, play true metal from the
heart. These Teutonic steel warriors don't deny their rock influences,
either; as Bad Boys Hard Rock Police is pure AC/DC, dangerously toying
with dear old D.A.D. These adulates also appreciate quality Sci-Fi epics
from the 70's, even writing about Logan's Run. The only other band who
did this, for which I'm aware, is Milan, Italy's Mesmerized. I'm not
sure why the limey bastards of war chose cheesy pseudonyms; perhaps
to add an air of mystery, or just maintain that 80's feel; either way,
the music is superb, the production top-notch and concise; and the music
is smoking hot and kills 'em all!
