Jeff Scott Soto's second solo effort in just over 14 months.
To have a new album out this quick isn't exactly following today's standards
of having intervals of like 2-3 years between one record to another
and what I find remarkable is that this record still reach the same
fine level as the previous one did and possibly it's even a tad better.
Pretty much what Inside The Vertigo sonically was, DIVAK
is too. It's somewhat modern heavy metal with a few segments of hard
rock involved and Soto's vocal performance is, much as expected, still
stylish and vigorous and does definitely not belong to a bygone era
in a technical perspective. The sound picture is powerful and for the
most part I like the total production of the record and in fact quite
a lot on this piece of music is to my liking, even if I frankly don't
feel like being hit by a freight train when I listen to it.
In terms of great songs, I think that this deal is lacking
the absolute highest peaks, but this is basically being well compensated
by an overall even and good songlist throughout the record and the band
indeed holds the capacity to come out with fully loaded material to
keep me attentive for almost the entire hour of playing time and to
me that shows that the music has quite a strong effect in the end.
