The River - Different Ways To Be Haunted
A new demo from the extremely slow doom metal band The River. Their sound is quite characteristic with dark, heavy riffs and beautiful, melodic female vocals from Vicky. I am impressed that you actually can play this slow without tipping over or something. Vicky's voice is like the crying of a sad angel, and stands for the strength of the bands sound. The three songs kind of melt into each other and form a dreamlike mass. The impression is the same as for their last demo Oneiric Dirges In Mono. Promising, but it needs a bit more variation to fill up a full-length album. This demo is much better produced though, and does more justice to the music. The sound is low and harmonic and matches the mood of the songs perfect. But there is still need for some more edge, not just a rumbling base. See
