The fourth and also eponymous release from Swedish rockers
Crazy Lixx. A band that never really has hit the charts noticeably and
probably is most known for being the first, but narrow, window to fame
of current Hardcore Superstar guitarist Vic Zino. This band chiefly
performs upright semi-modern hard rock with a little sleaze rock and
some glam rock involved and even if the band's own originality in terms
of structures might be questioned, I still am able to find things that
feel kind of fresh.
This record's strongest disadvantage is that it's fairly
dressed in a tight uniform pretty much from start to finish. Without
real peaks or killer songs that can break down any doubts and put the
material in the driver's seat and form or build up something versatile
and towering, a clear feeling of saturation arrives already after a
few spins. The record afterwards has in my viewpoint difficulties to
lose this state and even though I've listened to it for about a dozen
times, it never gets to the point where I see it as a little extra.
I find the band's hard rock to be rather everyday without
any real rides to explore something special and attractive. This release
is fairly easy to digest and it doesn't take any bigger effort to suck
in its content. When pieces are added together, no song on this album
is actually poor, but since the lack of really good and impactful songs
is apparent as well, this record eventually comes down to a matter of
being just something decent, which in the future possibly will get a
few occasional moments of playing time in my audio system.
