Negligence is a new acquaintance to me, and this fact show that one ought to keep a sharper eye on the Slovenian metal scene when it sounds as good as on the band's newest offering Coordinates Of Confusion. Thrash metal has during the latest years undergone somewhat of a rebirth which has led to a situation where a myriad of bands are battling for attention. Some deserve this, Negligence included, and some not.

The intro of the first track, Mind Decay, makes me sit straight up. What an onslaught, what a sound, what a start! The sound is especially nice - meaty without being constipated and with a really nice low end to it, that makes me feel that the producers Jey and Ruzz have really done their homework on how to tune in a sound that is perfectly suited to the music. The guitars very discernable which is very much needed as the guitarists Jey and Aljo at times furiously attacks with note-laden solos.

I also like that you can actually hear the bass all the time, a fact that more bands should pay more attention to. What you then get to hear is that the rythmsection of Lipnik and Ruzz are truly one entity - their playing ought to make many bands envious. The singing is handled admirably by Alex who has a big range and delivers the vocals with big authority. Performancewise Negligence leaves little to be desired as far as I'm concerned.

The songs are very good - already mentioned Mind Decay with it's very aggressive playing and plenty of double bassdrum work is a kick ass opener, Screaming Fear demonstrates some very tasty stringwork and Sickened has a killer intro and a fat, nice groove to it. I also like that the band has the good taste of actually incorporating nice vocal harmonies in every song on the album.

Coordinates Of Confusion is a mighty display of thrash metal that feels very fresh without loosing that old school feel that is, to me, necessary in all thrash. You can easily hear the legacy from bands as Testament, Death Angel and Exodus but Negligence does not fall into the trap of unconditional praise of the bands that developed the genre in the 1980s but has the talent to contribute something of their own. It's going to be very interesting to follow this band in the future.
