January 16th 2005 was a sad day in the history of metal.
Squealer singer and AFM boss Andy "Henner" Allendörfer,
age 38, had a car accident when he skidded of the road due to black
ice and died at the scene of the accident. He was on his way to a surprise
birthday show for a fan of the band when the accident occurred. This
looked like the end for the band but after a few months the remaining
members decided to start looking for a new singer and keep the band
going. After some looking around they found Gus Chambers (ex Grip Inc.)
and they decided that he was the right man for the job.
And here it is, the new album of the band now with and
A.D. in the name. But I'm sorry to say that this disc is far from good.
I like their previous albums and especially their Depeche Mode covers
are great. Power/heavy metal with pretty harsh vocals but this is a
total change of style. On this album we have an attempt to play thrash
metal which falls flat to the ground. The vocals are pretty lame and
the songs are absolutely nothing to write home about. There is no way
that I will recommend any of the songs on here since they all sound
very much the same. Pretty much the same problem as it is with the Shatter
Messiah disc with the exception that the Shatter Messiah songs are MUCH
better.
Avoid this disc and spend your money on something much
better or if you're curious and have unlimited amounts of money you
can check it out just to hear a once very good band turn bad.
