Art Of Anarchy is a new collaboration staged by guitarist
Jon Votta, who through his amity with his nowadays guitar partner Bumblefoot
has managed to start some kind of supergroup. Unsurprisingly, this group's
eccentric frontman Scott Weiland has in his own unconventional way naturally
already started lots of commotion by stating that he never was an actual
part of this project and that he just simply offered his services in
terms of vocals and songwriting.
If we focus on what the band has achieved instead of looking
at the drama, I think that they come out with pretty solid hard rock
that is stretching a little bit towards a heavier framing at times.
The actual performance feels inspiring and is definitely groovy and
loose all throughout the record, but it's also quite a bumpy ride in
terms of captivating songs. A few tracks, like Get On Down, Aqualung
and Long Ago are really awesome and I think that those 3 solely are
able to make this release attain a positive rating.
The band carries the capacity to bring forward new music
with elements hailing back to principally the 90's. It's a two-edged
sword musically to have Weiland involved, because first and foremost
I think that he is a great vocalist, but secondly, whatever he puts
his sign on comes out a little too similar to what he did in the past
and therefore I believe that the rest of the band can't materialize
their entities to full extent. In the end, this is a satisfactory effort,
yet nothing that I would run my ass off to buy at first opportunity.
