What we've got here is the second full length from Finland's
explosive power metallers Thaurorod. With new lead vocalist Andi Kravljaca,
I believe this unit may take a few steps closer to some success, if
people still are willing to check out bands of this vein, that is. Many
metal fans think power metal died, or at least is dormant since many
years ago, but I still claim validity for a few bands, novice or veterans.
This is nothing but catchy and often speedy power metal
and I like what I hear. Definitely not vapid, nor brutal. Although it's
not about massive heaviness, I don't find this release lame at any point.
To catch people's interest with captivating, fast and volatile melodies
seems to be more important than to mesmerize them with powerful, crushing
riffs.
To put it simple, many songs are stirred in two distinct
pots. It's either speed or semi-ballads and almost nothing in between.
Apart from this variation, diversity seems to be of no concern to this
outfit as they rush through these forty-seven minutes rapidly. Naturally
there are multiple kinds of tracks presented, but as a whole concept,
the power metal unit stick to their guns and never intended to do differently.
On the negative side and one huge distraction is the torturous
intro to the title track. So fucking faint and plagiarized. A two minute
conversation that was bad when I listened to it the first time. Imagine
how it is after fifteen to twenty spins. I just want to blow that total
load of crap to pieces. Why on earth do they not consider that people
who buys this release will have to listen to that waste every single
time?
Enough bloodshed. This is absolutely an album to my liking.
The speed, the melodies and the band's ambition creates a compound that
leads all the way to my inner senses. I also like the way the songs
get a grip of me with a catchy and appropriate atmosphere. A good release
that will definitely spin at my place in the future as well.
